I have been slack about posting here – its been an up and down year with lockdowns etc. But there were some fabulous performances by all 3 bands last term. See them below!

This website has finally been updated! We are nearing the end of a very enjoyable Term 1 of 2021. It is the third year of the Brass band programme at RWPS and we have 3 bands rehearsing weekly, with 26 new students starting in this year’s Rookie Band.
While COVID-19 still looms large we are a little restricted in terms of performance opportunities, though I will hopefully have some news on that front soon. But I can assure you that there is wonderful music being made in rehearsals!
For those of you who have not yet looked through this website, there are many many resources available to you all:
- For the Rookies, there are video lessons for every song from all 9 lessons, and a range of troubleshooting tips and suggestions.
- For the Intermediate Band and Brass Band students there are practice playalong recordings of all of your pieces.
- For those seeking further challenges, there is the Brass Taskbook – a selection of studies and solo pieces at a range of levels and styles. (I have just added sample recordings and piano parts for all the level 1 material)
- For parents, there is a range of material on how to support your kids to learn, as well as videos on how to fix malfunctioning instruments (there should be no excuses!). There is also talk of an opportunity for parents to have a go at playing in the band! More on that soon…
If you want to see anything else here, let me know! In the meantime, please keep encouraging your kids. The most important thing is that they play their instruments regularly – it doesn’t have to be for long, and doesn’t always have to be ‘practice’, it could be just playing a tune for fun. Ask them to play a song for you! Ask them about their favourite pieces. If you want to learn any particular songs, I can write them out, just ask me.
Cheers, Adam
